CASE STUDY – WHITTON PARK.

The Brief
The Dundee East Community Sports Club have delivered a number of improvements over the years at Whitton Park and continued to work hard to continue their development plans for the site. Their vision was to create a high-quality full size 3G synthetic pitch that would offer local teams the opportunity to train and play all year round. Doe Sport (North) were appointed as main contractors on a design and build basis.
Build up and delivery
The club approached DOE Sport North well in advance of their project so we could help and support them with design, planning and specification to ensure they achieved the best outcome for the local community. DOE offer a full design and build service which for many clients can remove some of the doubts and uncertainties encountered in a major project of this type. The club were supported by a number of agencies including sportscotland, Resilient Scotland and the Scottish Football Partnership.
The planning and design stage was completed by March 2019 and construction then took place with completion in June 2019.

The Results
The new pitch was launched in Summer 2019 and has been used by a variety of teams from the local community. This includes a number of junior and youth teams who can now play on the latest surface in all weathers. The project has transformed the facilities at Whitton Park with the club acknowledging how valuable the support and advice received from Doe Sport (North) was in delivering a successful project.
We were keen to use a local company for the installation of our new pitch and entered into discussions with Doe Sport over 12 months before we expected to start. Craig, their project manager, was with us every step of the way as we plotted our route through the planning and building control process. We would not have accomplished this without his invaluable experience. When it came to the installation itself Doe Sport were absolutely on top of things and were responsive to our requirements, tweaking the design here and there as required. Dundee East Community Sports Club has a facility which is the envy of the district
