OUTDOOR TENNIS.

DOE tennis courts – painted porous asphalt (macadam) and a range of quality synthetic grass and artificial clay tennis carpets – are designed to deliver different playing characteristics and to offer you a choice of playing experience and price. Surround fencing, the court perimeter, entrance steps and courtside seating areas can all be chosen to maximise the aesthetic appeal and enjoyment of your court and its location. DOE’s range of outdoor tennis surfaces provides a proven combination of performance criteria, product sustainability and after care solutions to meet the aspirations and needs of clubs, tennis centres and our many private clients. Few other sports are played on as many different surfaces as tennis which may bring variety but also the certainty that individual members will prefer different surfaces – a difficult challenge for any management committee.

DOE CASOLON DOE TROJAN DOE OLYMPUS DOE VICEROY & VISCOUNT DOE FRENCH-COURT®DOE ARTIFICIAL CLAY DOE MONO PRO TENNITOP ACE

DOE CASOLON is a fully sanded 20mm straight pile polypropylene grass tennis carpet. It is exceptionally durable and, with simple routine care, can be maintained in good playing condition through many years of intensive use. CASOLON is laid on a pervious asphalt (macadam) base over a free draining stone foundation such as our DOE VICEROY or VISCOUNT courts. Optimum playing characteristics are achieved some 2-3 months after installation and continue to improve during the first year.

DOE TROJAN is a fully sanded 15mm straight dense pile polypropylene grass tennis carpet installed exclusively by Doe in the UK. It provides a durable, medium paced tennis surface and, with simple routine care, can be maintained in good playing condition through many years of intensive use. DOE TROJAN 15 is manufactured from straight polypropylene yarn. It was purposely designed with a ‘mid-point’ stitch rate (higher than our faster long pile CASOLON and lower than the shorter, very dense pile OLYMPUS) to allow sufficient room within the carpet pile for adequate sand infill to meet the required medium pace and ball bounce performance criteria

DOE OLYMPUS is a sand dressed 11mm ‘twisted’ dense pile polypropylene grass tennis carpet finished with a light dressing of EPDM rubber granulate. Installed exclusively by Doe in the UK since 1997, it provides outstanding comfort and playing characteristics taking both spin and slice. OLYMPUS is manufactured from twisted polypropylene yarn which, combined with the high stitch rate, gives a very dense 11mm pile which is virtually self supporting. OLYMPUS is ‘sand dressed’ – i.e, it does not need to be ‘filled’ with sand. The sand acts only as ‘ballast’ for the carpet and is virtually invisible – you are playing on the carpet and its dressing and not on a bed of sand.

DOE VICEROY is an attractive, naturally black surface constructed using pervious asphalt (macadam) specifically designed for tennis courts. The surface is laid using steel screed bars to ensure the correct tolerance. Our Foremen’s expertise and experience in the correct rolling and compaction of the surface during construction are vital elements in the finished quality of the court. DOE VICEROY can be laid either as a “single layer” surface – VICEROY 32 or, with a base course beneath the playing surface to give a “double layer” court – VICEROY 65.

DOE VISCOUNT is the black VICEROY court – either the 32 or the 65 – enhanced by an additional layer – an application of Doe’s acrylic tennis court coating in single or dual colours of your choice. Players will notice that the ball “comes through better” on the colour coated VISCOUNT surface. It offers a lower ball bounce and faster surface pace than the black VICEROY surface.

FRENCH-COURT® offers the playing characteristics of clay all year round without the necessity for major works each Spring and Autumn. The surface needs simple, routine maintenance and watering just like a clay court but the reduced level of year on year care and 12 months’ playability make this surface a more cost effective long term option for Centres and Clubs who want clay courts.

DOE offer a choice of the latest artificial clay surfaces from leading manufacturers. Artificial Clay is an attractive dense terracotta carpet infilled with selected silicas then ‘overdressed’ with red silica to provide a similar aesthetic to real clay and to allow a degree of ‘slide’ to replicate clay court play. It is available for play all year round with maintenance requirements similar to synthetic grass courts. It is particularly popular in European Clubs and Centres because of their clay court culture and has recently attracted a lot of interest in the UK.

DOE MONO PRO is a sand dressed texturised 10mm or 13mm dense pile grass tennis carpet. It provides an extremely durable tennis surface and with simple routine care can be maintained in good playing condition through many years of intensive use. DOE Mono Pro is manufactured from a texturised monofilament polyethylene yarn which combined with its high stitch rate gives a very dense pile self supporting carpet. DOE Mono pro is is ‘sand dressed’ – i.e, it does not need to be ‘filled’ with sand. The sand acts only as ‘ballast’ for the carpet and you are playing on the carpet and its dressing and not on a bed of sand.

Tennitop® Ace, available exclusively in Scotland through DOE Sport (North), has been developed to provide a slow playing surface that is ideal for coaching and for enjoyable social or competitive tennis. The polymeric surface offers advantages of porosity, superior comfort and great consistency of bounce.

Tennitop® Ace consists of a continuous 10mm layer of porous rubber laid over a porous macadam base and finished with a non-slip polymeric spray coat system. Being both predictable in its bounce and responsive to spin, it encourages the development of well-grooved shots and rewards good tactics. The rubber layer protects the underlying macadam almost indefinitely.
