| British number one, Tim Henman,
enjoyed hitting with some of the country's top juniors at the opening of the
LTA's Tennis Academy at the University of Bath shortly before Christmas. Tim
was playing with the Academy members on the new 8 GreenSet GRAND PRIX
cushioned acrylic courts installed by Doe in the new Tennis Hall during the
summer of 2003. DOE had already built up a strong working relationship with the University of Bath
on two previous tennis projects. As Ged Roddy, Director of Sport at the University says: "We've renewed
an old and trusted friendship in creating this performance tennis
environment by again selecting DOE to provide our court surfaces. DOE first
became involved with us when they constructed our 8 outdoor courts for the
European Youth Olympic Games here in 1995. Two years later they
installed our first indoor courts and are now back with us again for this
third and most ambitious stage of our programme pursuing tennis excellence. Tim
Henman speaking at the Press Conference before the official opening said -
"I really believe in creating academy environments where players of all
ages train together, The Bath Academy players will get to train with top
coaches and athletes from other sports in world-class facilities on these
competition Grand Prix courts. Everything is here to help players reach
their full potential." Bath Academy Head, Simon Jones, was involved
in designing the new academy. "We wanted to ensure everything was
perfect for training Britain's best players, from design, layout to
facilities," he said. "we already have a great team spirit. This
also works for the coaches who can learn from each other, and keep raising
the standards."
