Earlier in the winter
Andy Murray was at the Stirling University Campus to open DOE's indoor
acrylic tennis hall but was unfortunately not able to be present for the
recent opening of the outdoor Clay facility. Stirling University is
already acclaimed as a Centre of Sporting Excellence in Scotland and the
Chief Executive of Tennis Scotland commented "Quite simply this extended
facility will become the hub for tennis in this country. In addition to a
central training resource, a home base for our players on the tour and a
high performance centre, players can also enjoy the benefit of superb
sporting facilities including sports science services and a state-of–the-art
fitness centre creating what is in effect a sports village".

Majesty the Queen had opened the new National Tennis Centre at Roehampton
where DOE installed 12 outdoor courts (6 Clay and 6 GreenSet GRAND PRIX
Acrylic) and 6 indoor courts (GreenSet GRAND PRIX on an area elastic timber
floor over underfloor heating).

The 6 Clay courts at Roehampton have already seen
intensive use since being brought into play and are expected to become a
focal point for junior development and elite squad training and preparation
in future years.
More news about all the courts at Roehampton will
follow during the summer as the elite players comment at the end of their
first 3 months of play in the new British home of Tennis.
